Troy Baptist Church has had many faithful men over the years. One of these men was Paul Bailey. He wanted to have a ministry for those who were retirement age (and those approaching it) for fellowship, Christian growth and mentoring. That is why he started the Silver Stars. Under his leadership, many ministry opportunities took place, as well as recreation activities. One year, the group was even able to travel to the Holy Land. It was an unforgettable experience.
When Paul Bailey retired from the leadership of the Silver Stars, Jim Parrock took his place. The ministry continued to flourish, with trips to the Ohio River, Berne (Indiana), Bearing Precious Seed (Milford) and Fellowship Tract League.
Assistant Pastor Frank Workman took the role of leader of the ministry after Jim Parrock retired. Trips to Young's Jersey Dairy and the Farmer's Daughter (Urbana) continued to further the goal of Christian fellowship bringing people together. When Frank Workman's ill health caused him to step aside in 2015, the ministry was put on a brief hiatus until 2023.
The ministry was still going when Pastor Thomasson became the pastor. After years of prayer and thoughtful consideration, Pastor decided to bring back the ministry. Assisting him in the leadership of the ministry is
